Horticulture Students Attend State FFA Convention
Students from the Landscape Technology / Horticulture Program at Career TEC attended the 79th Massachusetts FFA State Convention in Sturbridge, MA from March 16 to March 18, 2009. The convention is held annually and is attended by over 300 students from agriculture programs across the state. The goals of FFA are to develop premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.
Jason Massad of Easthampton competed in the Demonstration Career Development Event (CDE) and placed 1st overall for his presentation on “Changing a Line Trimmer Spool”.
Ben Rivet (Minnechaug) and
Zachary Lyman (Easthampton) demonstrated “Chain Saw Safety” in the Team Demonstration CDE and received a 3rd Place trophy.
Joseph Wetmore (Agawam) received a Silver Medal for his 5th place in the Job Interview CDE.
Luis Alvarez (Agawam) served as a Chapter Delegate representing CTEC in business conducted by the convention State Officers.
The students were accompanied by Dan Plourde, Instructor/Advisor, and Doreen Angelucci, Technical Assistant. All of the students that participated were at the convention for their first time.
